Uganda Attractions
Uganda (91,134 sq. mi/236,037 sq. km) has great mix of habitats among its many lakes and rivers. The Victoria Nile flows out of Lake Victoria, first over a dam that has created Lake Kioga, then over Murchison Falls; in the western rift valley it becomes the Albert Nile. Uplifted and volcanic mountains line Uganda's border with Zaire. Much of the country lies on a plateau at 3,300-4,600' (1,000-1,400 m) elevation. It is mostly wooded savanna, but there are also papyrus swamps, montane forests, rain forest in the west, and semi-arid acacia savanna in the northeast. Despite the country's position on the equator, the climate is pleasant.
